Hobby Stuff I've Been Up To

My darling , who has just rehauled her website (and joined the Potoooooooo webring), always tells me she loves my writing the most. Since she made a huge update, the least I can do is write a little bloggy to tickle her fancy!!! Though this time I swear my hiatus was unintentional, I'm just so busy with everything else: work, friends, other hobbies... It feels good to get back to this one now!

In the past few months I have become a complete FFXIV Freak, so if I'm not playing it then I'm creating fan content for it, and if not that then I'm brainstorming stories for things I can make later, and if not that... literally dreaming about it. Even my nightmares are Final Fantasy themed now.

The end of my lifelong depression coincided with the birth of this new interest, so I've been able to fully tap into my passion and write more than I ever have in my whole life. I'm even finishing most of my work, too!!! For the longest, that was my greatest insecurity as a writer. You can see my lamentation in my old diary, the one on the 6th of June, 2023— coincidentally what would have been my father's 70-something-th birthday. While searching for that particular entry, I skimmed some of the others and felt astonished by just how different I was back then. I will always have much in common with my past self, but a change in scenery, fantastic friends, and three years of learning and growing make a real difference!!!

Anyways, right now my XIV documents sum up to 88,000 words of notes and prose alike, which is insane for less than 6 months of work, especially when compared to my UNDERTALE documents that, after 3 full years, sum up to only 265,000 words, most of which are only notes with less than a dozen stories seen to completion. I still love Sans more than anyone and he shall remain eternally by my side (dramatic way of saying we cuddled all morning), but as far as fandom behaviours go I'm not nearly as drawn to UTDR as I was in the past. So... a lot of my yume section will remain unfinished— or at best completed very, very slowly— as I pour my energy into FFXIV instead.

I even meant to write a blog post sooner, but I've spent the whole of September absorbed by the annual FFXIV fandom daily writing challenge. Since middle school, when I discovered the concept of daily/monthly prompt based challenges, I have always wanted to do one but never had the discipline (AKA MENTAL WELLNESS) to actually pursue it. Everything is different now!!! And I am proud to say I've published stories for 80% of the prompts released thus far. For the first week, because I forgot this event was happening until I stumbled onto it again on September 4th, I had to catch up by writing two complete stories every day. It was crazy difficult and crazy fun, and I can't wait to work on my next piece!!!

Because I haven't found the time to publish them on my XIV website, if you feel like reading them you'll have to check my AO3. Just mind the tags and you'll be fine.

Speaking of website stuff, I don't know if anyone noticed the couple of weeks that Vivarism looked like absolute dogshit, but one morning I innocently updated my web browser before opening a page-in-progress, only to find that Chromium 152 completely killed my adorable scrapbook border style. I literally could not stand to look at my websites until I found a fix for this. Thankfully a nice computer moid on Stack Exchange helped me out and now everything looks better than ever!!!

It was a bit tedious to update and there are still some pages that need work, but at least the remaining issues are not so obvious. Writing this made me realise I haven't checked for errors on my Flonne.NET domain, so I'll do that when I update my fanlistings later today. Normally I only do that once a month, but someone besides (whom I introduced to the series) actually joined my Amaama to Inazuma FL! It made me so happy that someone else likes my favourite obscure cooking/child-rearing animanga, I want to add her right away!!!

OMG, just checked my e-mail and remembered someone joined my Maebashi Witches FL, too— another obscure show, though this time about (lowkey dysfunctional) magical girl idols, seemingly also known only to me and — so I'll take care of that ASAP, too. Maybe in October when I have more time, I'll make some more webrings and FLs because it's just too much fun creating new designs. As usual I have a billion ideas, but not enough hours in the day to do them all. That's okay... Life is long!!! And I'm always, always having fun.

Ahh, what else is there to do??? Fold laundry. Tidy up, vacuum everywhere. Prepare for some boring work thing. I also need a shower and I'm overdue to wash my hair. I know that the longer I put off the full comb-wash-condition routine, the more painful it gets, but I just.... don't want to........ orz ............. Well, Sans will help me, and I can always use the downtime to write in my head. When I was a child I used to mutter my stories aloud so surely that'll be nostalgic for me.

As for things already done, I made up a new monthly poll, replied to all your messages, and approved new applicants to my webring yesterday. Have I written at all about my webring yet???? Yeah, it's AWESOME. It was so fun to make and now I know how to make a bunch more!!! One million billion thanks to the eternally inspiring Nenrikido for creating Nenring, which is superior to every other sham of a webring script on the smallweb.

That's all from me for now. I have another bloggy in the works but it'll take some time to finish. To anyone who misses me when I'm inactive: read my fanfic instead!!!!!!!

...

UPDATE: I just assumed anyone joining an Amaama to Inazuma fanlisting would be a human being, but it was actually a scrote who plays pretend as a woman for his fetish, and most likely enjoyed the series for it's ""loli"" protagonist. Per TFL/TAFL rules, you cannot bar anyone entry to your fanlisting but you can choose not to list their website/e-mail address. Yay!

There is also no rule against having your girlfriend join the FL to wash the bad taste out of your mouth │ Thank you !!! And thankfully the new addition to the Maebashi Witches FL is a real person, too!
